If you are arrested in Travis County, you may qualify for a “Hobby” release, which is a procedure unique to this jurisdiction. When a magistrate is unavailable to set your bond, and if you meet the qualifications set out by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, an attorney can secure your release from jail without a bond. You and the attorney must then appear the next day to have a bond set and complete the appropriate paperwork.
